Target Blu Eye GO
Target Blu Eye GO is a portable unit that alerts you when emergency-service vehicles may be nearby. It passively picks up compatible emergency-service TETRA/Airwave radio activity and gives a visual and audible alert, even when the emergency vehicle’s sirens and lights are off. OJB Autocare supplies the GO. It mounts on the windscreen and is powered by USB-C or a 12V adaptor, so it can move between cars without being wired in.

How GO gives an alert
GO listens passively and doesn’t transmit. When it picks up compatible emergency-service radio activity within range, it alerts you so you can take extra notice of what’s around you. The alert tells you there’s relevant radio activity nearby rather than which vehicle or service it is. Because GO responds to radio rather than speed-enforcement radar, it isn’t a radar detector or a vehicle tracker. Reception varies with your surroundings, so use it as an extra cue alongside your mirrors and your own observation.
Range and reception
How far away GO responds depends on the surroundings and on where the antenna sits, so any ‘up to’ distance is a maximum rather than a typical figure. The official UK distributor notes that GO has a lower range than an optimally fitted Blu Eye 2, which is the trade-off for portability.
The windscreen makes a difference too. Heated windscreens and UV-blocking glass can affect reception, and for these the distributor recommends an optional external antenna. Window film containing metal can also reduce reception.
GO or Blu Eye 2?
The Blu Eye range takes two approaches. GO is portable. Blu Eye 2 is permanently integrated into the vehicle and uses either a rearview-mirror LED display or a separate touchscreen LCD. The distributor’s product comparison sets out the differences in more detail.
| Point of difference | Blu Eye GO | Blu Eye 2 LED | Blu Eye 2 LCD |
|---|---|---|---|
| Installation | Windscreen mounted, moves between vehicles | Permanently integrated | Permanently integrated |
| Alert display | Touchscreen LCD on the portable unit | LED in the rearview mirror | Separate touchscreen LCD |
| Power | USB-C or 12V adaptor | Part of the permanent installation | Part of the permanent installation |
| Range | Lower than an optimally fitted Blu Eye 2 | Greater when optimally fitted | Greater when optimally fitted |
GO suits drivers who change cars often, share driving across more than one vehicle, or would rather not add anything permanent. We supply the GO.
Motorcycles and driving abroad
- Not for motorcycles. The distributor rules GO out for bikes. It isn’t waterproof, and motorcycles cause problems with cooling, vibration and voltage.
- Driving abroad. GO relies on compatible local radio systems. Some countries aren’t supported and others are only partly supported. Check the distributor’s country list before relying on it outside the UK.
Cost and ordering
The distributor describes GO as a one-off purchase with no subscription, and we confirm your price before you order. When you get in touch, tell us your vehicle’s make and model and whether the windscreen is heated, UV-blocking or tinted with film, so we can talk through reception and setup for your car. Full specifications are on the Blu Eye GO page run by CP Automotive, the official licensed UK distributor.
