Ghost immobiliser removal in Yorkshire
OJB Autocare removes Autowatch Ghost immobilisers for £250. We remove all Ghost models, including systems fitted by other installers. You can book a visit to our Pollington workshop by appointment, or we can come to you anywhere in our existing service areas across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Why owners book Ghost removal
A Ghost adds an extra authorisation step before your car can be driven. That extra layer is valuable while you own the vehicle, but there are good reasons to have it taken out:
- Selling or part-exchanging your car, when you'd rather not hand a Ghost and its PIN to the next owner.
- Changing cars, when you want to talk about reusing the Ghost in your next vehicle.
- Returning a finance or lease car, if your agreement asks for aftermarket equipment to be removed.
- Changing your security set-up, for example moving to a different combination of immobiliser and tracker.
- Buying a used car with a Ghost already fitted that you don't want to keep.
Ghost systems we remove
We remove all Autowatch Ghost models, including the original Ghost, Ghost-II and Ghost-III. It doesn't matter whether we fitted your Ghost or another installer did, or whether it was fitted for a previous owner.
This service removes the aftermarket Autowatch Ghost. It is separate from factory immobiliser deletion.
Price and appointment time
Ghost removal is £250.
How long the appointment takes depends on your vehicle and on how well the existing Ghost was installed. We'll talk you through what to expect when you book.
The £250 price is for removal. If you'd also like to discuss moving the Ghost to another car or fitting new security, mention it when you get in touch. We'll confirm what's involved and the cost before anything is booked.
Removal only, or moving the Ghost to another car?
Removal takes the Ghost out of your current car. Fitting it to another vehicle is a separate question: different Ghost models support different vehicles, so your existing unit and replacement car need a compatibility check.
If you'd like to reuse your Ghost, send us the make, model and year of both cars and tell us which Ghost you have. We'll check whether a transfer is suitable before confirming anything. You can also look up your next car on the Autowatch Ghost compatibility database.
Forgotten your PIN? Start with a support enquiry
A forgotten PIN doesn't, on its own, mean your Ghost needs removing. If we fitted your Ghost, contact us first. If another installer fitted it, they're normally the best first contact. Autowatch's official help centre can also help if you're not the original owner or the original installer can't help.

FAQs
Do I have to remove my Ghost before selling or trading in my car?
Not necessarily. Some sellers leave the Ghost fitted and give the buyer the paperwork and Ghost cards, so the new owner can set their own PIN. Others prefer to have it removed before the sale. If you, a buyer or a dealer would rather the car went without it, we can remove it for £250.
What if I don't know which Ghost model I have, or I've lost the paperwork?
Tell us whatever you know. The model and installer are often shown on the paperwork or Ghost cards that came with the car. If you don't have any of that, say so when you enquire and we'll talk it through with you before booking.
Can I arrange removal on behalf of the vehicle owner?
Yes, with the owner's permission. Tell us when you enquire if you are arranging the appointment for someone else, and include the vehicle and Ghost details needed for the booking.
Will removing my Ghost affect my insurance?
It might. If your insurer asked for a Ghost, or you declared it on your policy, speak to your insurer before you book removal. Insurers set their own requirements, and a change to your car's security could affect your cover or premium.
Will my car still have security after the Ghost is removed?
Removal takes away the extra authorisation layer that the Ghost provides. Your car's own factory security isn't part of the Ghost. The same applies to any other aftermarket system, such as a tracker. If you'd like to replace the Ghost with different protection, we can talk you through the options.
Do I need to remove my Ghost for a service or valet?
Usually not. Ghost has a service or valet mode for temporary handovers, so a garage or valeter can use the car without you sharing your PIN. Your owner guide or installer can explain how it works on your system, and Autowatch's help centre has owner guides. Permanent removal is for when you no longer want the Ghost on that car.
